Heaven of place by the Manuherekia River, The Shaky Bridge French Bistro stands in a picturesque old cottage minor just between the actual Shaky Bridge and the Clock Hill, both symbols of Alexandra. Whether looking for a proper meal or just a few things to nibble, you’re in the right place! Our chef Quentin will cook for you one of his homemade dishes (Mushroom risotto, duck leg confit…) or prepare a nice platter of cheese &/or deli.
The wine lovers will be able to enjoy the local awarded Shaky Bridge wines or try a glass of our delicious French selection.
In a hurry for lunch? Come and enjoy our light dishes ( $15 – $20) !Feeling like enjoying a nice and relaxing moment take your time to taste our famous French dishes: Ribeye Maitre d’hotel, Salmon, roasted camembert…( 20-30$) with a great glass of wine. And the kitchen is open all day long!
Enjoy a touch of decadence and a roaring fire in the ‘miners hut’ that serves as our bistro during the colder months. Our fires create an authentic atmosphere of rustic charm in the winter, providing an exceptional tasting experience for our award winning wines. Ample outdoor seating is available to soak in the sun on our usually beautiful Central Otago days.
We welcome small and large tour groups, appointment necessary for groups of 15 and over. We happily cater for holiday makers, family groups, friends and business meetings.
Wine tasting and off premise sales at the Cellar Door is available by appointment only. Call +64 3 4488436.
