The Artisan Series wine provides a rewarding tasting experience and demonstrates the high quality attributes of our source vineyards in the Alexandra basin.

Winemakers Tasting Notes

Filled with intense peach, apricot and floral aromas, our 2014 Pinot Gris delivers a luscious, weighty mouthful of wine providing a crisp clean finish with a hint of spice. Unlike many of its global cousins, the style of our Pinot Gris encapsulates the essence of Central Otago by providing a full and uniquely flavoured taste profile for this variety. Match this wine with summer salads, lightly spiced dishes or sushi. Enjoy now or cellar 3 – 4 years to enhance complexity.

Shaky Bridge Wines is located in the stunningly beautiful Alexandra Basin of Central Otago, New Zealand. Our source vineyards are situated below the 45th Parallel in the southern most wine growing region on the globe. Our location is ideally suited to the creation of the aromatic varieties of white wine, alongside Pinot Noir which is our primary variety.

Sourcing fruit from 6 distinct blocks that vary in age from 10 - 30+ years, Shaky Bridge Wines owns one of the oldest Pinot Noir vineyards in Central Otago. The various locations, soil types and clones used within each block provide our winemaker, Dave Grant, with a virtual painters pallet of flavours to create multi-dimensional wines of exceptional quality, depth and satisfaction.

Winemaking Notes

Perfectly ripe and flavourful berries are hand picked, lightly crushed, de-stemmed and transferred to stainless tanks for a 24 hour cold soak period prior to fermentation. We believe the cold soak greatly aids the development of a layered texture in the wine, providing the depth and intensity we achieve.

The juice is cool fermented in stainless steel and briefly aged on light lees prior to bottling.
