Winemakers Tasting Notes
Our Pioneer Series Home Block White is a delicious blend made entirely from hand harvested grapes grown on our Home Block vineyard, Dunstan Rd. Ginger, rose petal and spices from Gewurztraminer create an intoxicating aroma, the Chardonnay adds body and depth and our Riesling provides a clean and super smooth finish. Packed with fruit and beautifully balanced, a touch of sweetness on the finish make this ‘unusual blend’ one tasty wee white wine! Match with Thai or Indian curries for a fantastic food and wine experience!
Shaky Bridge Wines is located in the stunningly beautiful Alexandra Basin of Central Otago, New Zealand. Our source vineyards are situated below the 45th Parallel in the southern most wine growing region on the globe. Our location is ideally suited to the creation of the aromatic varieties of white wine, alongside our primary variety which is Pinot Noir.
Sourcing fruit from 6 distinct blocks that vary in age from 10 - 30+ years, Shaky Bridge Wines owns one of the oldest Pinot Noir vineyards in Central Otago. The various locations, soil types and clones used within each block provide our winemaker, Dave Grant, with a virtual painters pallet of flavours to create multi dimensional wines of exceptional quality, depth and satisfaction.

Wine Composition and Analysis
55% Gewurztraminer, 30% Chardonnay, 15% Riesling Alcohol 13.5%, RS 12g/l
We hand harvested and then separately de-stemmed and crushed each variety, so as to separately vinify each parcel. Crushed grapes were placed in stainless steel tanks for primary fermentation and left to independently marry for 6 months post fermentation.
We employed a variety of blending trials to assess the impact of each variety in the wine, settling on the blend specified above. We were looking to make a very drinkable, aromatically interesting luscious wine, finding perfect balance between each variety. We are delighted with the result and offer a wine of superb value.
