Winemakers Tasting Notes
An exclusive and very limited parcel of grapes is used in this exquisite wine. Notes of apricot nectar, honey, nut, and vanilla cream delight the nose and are joined by spices and toasty oak characters in a refined mouthful of wine. Freshly new world yet showing classic characteristics of an old world wine, our 2011 Pont Tremblant Chardonnay is a rare find. Just 636 bottles produced.
Shaky Bridge Wines is located in the stunningly beautiful Alexandra Basin of Central Otago, New Zealand. Our source vineyards are situated below the 45th Parallel in the southern most wine growing region on the globe. Our location is ideally suited to the creation of the aromatic varieties of white wine, alongside Pinot Noir which is our primary variety.
Sourcing fruit from 6 distinct blocks that vary in age from 10 - 30+ years, Shaky Bridge Wines owns one of the oldest Pinot Noir vineyards in Central Otago. The various locations, soil types and clones used within each block provide our winemaker, Dave Grant, with a virtual painters pallet of flavours to create multi dimensional wines of exceptional quality, depth and satisfaction.

Handpicked, April 2011
De-stemmed and crushed very ripe Chardonnay grapes directly into the tank press, followed by brief skin contact before lightly pressing the juice into stainless steel tanks for primary fermentation. A new and a first year French oak barrel were used for malolactic fermentation. The wine was aged sur lie for 16 months. The wine was finished in October 2012 and bottled shortly after.
Fine, taut Chardonnay with appealing mineral and grapefruit/citrus flavours against a toasty, nutty, bran biscuit background. Quite concentrated with a firm backbone of fine acidity. Fairly austere wine right now but with potential to open up with bottle age.
