2013 Riesling
Our Shaky Bridge Artisan Series wine is made from the best of our hand-picked fruit, and defines our skill as a producer of quality wines. Hands on winemaking and endless attention to detail allow us to create multi-layered wines of exceptional quality. All our Artisan Series wine provides a rewarding tasting experience and demonstrates the high quality attributes of our source vineyards in the Alexandra basin.
Winemakers Tasting Notes
Our 2013 Riesling is a wonderfully fresh and zesty wine, full of lemon, lime and Alexandra minerality. We balance these characteristics with moderate to high acidity, making a crisp wine with a beautifully clean finish in an off dry style. We like our Riesling to have just a hint of residual sugar to balance the acidity, providing a complete Riesling experience for lovers of this variety. This wine is ideal as an aperitif or a superb match with Pacific Asian flavours.
Shaky Bridge Wines is located in the stunningly beautiful Alexandra Basin of Central Otago, New Zealand. Our source vineyards are situated below the 45th Parallel in the southern most wine growing region on the globe. Our location is ideally suited to the creation of the aromatic varieties of white wines, alongside Pinot Noir which is our primary variety.
Sourcing fruit from 6 distinct blocks that vary in age from 10 - 30+ years, Shaky Bridge Wines owns one of the oldest Pinot Noir vineyards in Central Otago. The various locations, soil types and clones used within each block provide our winemaker, Dave Grant, with a virtual painters pallet of flavours to create multi-dimensional wines of exceptional quality, depth and satisfaction.

Winemaking Notes
We de-stemmed, crushed and loaded a small amount of
Riesling grapes into a tank press. We pressed the juice
into stainless steel vats for fermentation. At the
conclusion of primary fermentation, the wine was
lightly sterile filtered and stabilized for bottling. The
winemaking style is in sync with our overall philosophy
of non-intervention by simply allowing our terroir to
show. The quality of the grapes we harvest from our
vineyards allows for this very simple
approach to winemaking.
